SEARCHLIGHT

I woke up,
saw the sun,
and cheered.

Nocturnal goblins
I had feared
dissolved like wax
and disappeared.

Again the sunshine
put to flight
the fearsome ogres
of the night.

I’m searching for
the light within,
melt shadows before
they begin.
