We just finished bowing
to the gifts of mother earth
by emphasizing gratitude
for bounty and for birth.
Now we have a season
when we are asked to give,
to be generous to others,
find a better way to live.
Thus we give expression
to what we would believe,
that it is more blessed
to be giving than receive.
